History of Smith Brothers
While Smith Brothers of Berne was officially founded in 1926 by Orv and Les Smith, the company was originally started in the early 1900s by L.L. Dunbar and Homer Niederhauser. Fun fact: Dunbar was one of the first to use leather in upholstery for rocking chairs!
The company has a rich history of brotherly love, beginning in the 1920s when Orv and Les Smith were hired. They would later change the name to Smith Brothers Furniture. When they retired in 1960, they sold their shares to the Muselman brothers who changed the name to Smith Brothers of Berne. The Lehman brothers took the reins in the 1970s and Steve Lehman still owns the company today.
